Nikolai sat by the waters edge, his hand moving the water around slowly. He watched the ripples intently counting how many each movement made. Olesia, his Petilil, seemed happy in the water too. She jumped about making splashes and shaking droplets off her leaves. Nikolai just smiled, paying his attention back on the water. It was peaceful at this part of the beach, although there were quite a few others around him. He was in his own little world. A small change in the slight wind caused the object in the blonde's pocket to poke at him. It brought a frown to his face as he picked it out with a free hand and stared at the worn cover. He knew exactly what was written in it, he’d read it so many times. But that was it, he knew nothing else. He couldn't even remember his own last name, that had to be something to worry about.
It didn't help that Anya didn't remember either. She never could tell him what he didn't know and he didn't know why. Maybe she had the same memory loss, being his soulmate. Either that or she couldn't tell him for some reason. The Cinccino had been with him through it all, and there was no way he could even think about losing his soulmate. The Petilil, however, had only been with the team of two for a short while, being instantly accepted by them both.
Opening the book once again, he read over the curved writing again. Rubbing his fingers slowly over the ink as if it were something to cherish slowly. Even the pages themselves couldn't bring back some hidden memory of his past. He was only sure Nikolai was his name due to this book. Although Anya agreed with him on it.
"Where are you?" He closed his eyes, hoping something would happen. The first thing he remembered in his life was waking up in that hospital bed. Anya had been beside him, and luckily they both walked out of there okay. The Cinccino was mature, thinking their plan through. Nikolai would have been able to do it himself, but the shock of waking up in the strange world meant he wasn't thinking straight. He only remembered who Anya was when she told him.
Both Anya and Olesia moved closer to him, making him fee slightly comforted. His soulmate and his first Pokemon friend both looking out for him.
/It'll be fine, we'll keep looking./ He heard Anya's voice in his head clearly, nodding slightly. She was right, he'd find his memories one day, even if it were someone else who helped him find them.
