[/i] that she wanted to. exploring the neighborhood earned her an evening in her room; playing architect in the attic rewarded her with a locked attic door; pulling out the mop to figure out exactly how it was attached to the handle resulted in talking-to. with her dad, she could do anything she wanted, and he was always right there to show her how to do it.

the longer her parents went without living together, the more stiff they became around each other. elsa found herself feeling that she had to mediate conversations between the two and dispel the awkwardness that could never be shaken off anyway. she felt that maybe if she performed better and got sick less often, maybe her mom and dad would grow closer again. the young girl grew more mature for them, skipped over things that can only be appreciated in childhood, in the hopes of fixing her family a little. the only thing she really got from it was a realization:
there was nothing she could do. it wasn't even her responsibility.
then, what was? was she really that helpless when it came to her own parents? no matter how much she learned, or how many new things she got to try, there were some things she really couldn't change. it baffled her. but more than that, it annoyed her like no other. by then else was nine years old. suddenly she had more attitude, began to act a lot tougher, and grew more brazen than ever before. if she couldn't make other things better, than she was going to change herself. and how could you be better than the pokemon champion?
that became her goal. to see the world and satisfy her endless curiosity and sense of learning, and to become the best pokemon trainer there was. as she grew older she became to spend more and more time with her father (simply refusing to put up with her mother's suffocating restrictions). suddenly she was the tom-boy in her grade who didn't let anything stop her. she wasn't rushing it -- oh no, good things took time, she knew that -- but once she turned twelve, she began to show her mother her mature side and convince her to let her youngest daughter out into the world. that took a little time, but once she had that her father gave her the thumbs-up. elsa then packed her bag and left home to fulfill those high goals of hers.[/ul]
