[/b] A certain serenity of spirit has always marked Rin, even from when she was a child. Her placid tranquility is one of the most obvious things about her, the fact that she is endlessly halcyon and as peaceful as the sea on a day with no wind. There is a stillness to her that runs deep and maybe this calming quality to her is what makes her quite so good at her job.
HANA 'rin' EIRENNE
"YOU'RE GONNA CATCH A COLD
FROM THE ICE INSIDE YOUR SOUL"NAME:: Hana 'Rin' Eirenne.
AGE:: Twenty-three.
GENDER:: Female.
CLASS:: Breeder.
BIRTH SEASON:: Winter.
ORIENTATION:: Pansexual.POSITIVE TRAITS::
-- Unflappable: Nothing fazes, Rin. It takes a lot to surprise her, to make waves on the calm ocean of her personality, and she's infamous for being nigh on unflappable. She seems to take most things in her stride, with even the most outlandish events drawing little but a raised eyebrow from her.
-- Practical: Having talent, but erratic parents led to Rin being the most grounded one in their family. Cooking, cleaning, planning the logistics of getting from place to place - little, mundane things like that are very much her forte. She can be quite logical and likes to get things done as neatly as possible, with the minimum amount of fuss and faffing around.
-- Gentle: Not many people see this side of her, since she seems to exclusively save it for pokemon. Only around the pokemon she cares for does Rin let her softness show, the endless patience and quiet affection that she reserves for those in need. It often surprises people that she is in fact capable of such gentleness, such compassion, such tenderness given her often cold-seeming exterior, but there is a soothing centre at the heart of this woman, hidden though it often is.
-- Focussed: More typically, and in contrast to that afore-mentioned softness, Rin rarely lets herself get distracted by unnecessary emotions when it comes to her goals in life. She has always been quietly determined and never forgets her true goals in life. Her concentration skills, in oh so clinical terms, are rather epic.
-- Successful: Through a combination of hard work, focus and just knowing what she's good at in life, Rin has become moderately successful with her Breeding business in Virenya City. Not satisfied with that, though, she seeks to improve herself further through travelling and acquiring as much knowledge and experience as she can...

NEGATIVE TRAITS::
-- Serious: though she does have a certain subtle, dry humour to her, she is not a frivolous person. Hard-working and more concerned with her business and pokemon than having fun, she is certainly something of a stick in the mud and excitable, dynamic people will almost certainly find her boring.
-- Single-minded: Rin knows what she wants out of life and she's not going to let anything get in her way when it comes to her goals. She is driven, perhaps overly-so, and difficult to distract when she's got something into that stubborn head of hers.
-- Overly-independent: Rin hates to accept help from anyone else; has a bit of thing about it, in fact. She doesn't like relying on anyone for anything and self-sufficiency is her goal. Unfortunately, this means she is less than gracious where any assistance is concerned and she is thoroughly useless at accepting that she is less than perfect and needs help from anyone else. Ever.
-- Judgemental: Though quiet about it, Rin has some very strong opinions where pokemon and their care are concerned, on other subjects as well. And if asked...well, she won't mince her words when her opinion is requested of her. She is also less than tolerant where viewpoints other than her own are concerned.
-- Inflexible: Rin is very, very much a perfectionist and does not bend easily regarding anything. She is strong, yes, and adaptable in her own way, but she doesn't like any sort of change that she is not in charge of. Being compliant does not come easily to her.
-- Controlling: Rin is awful for insisting on micro-managing every aspect of her life and she hates, hates, hates things that she cannot control. She does not willingly surrender her ability to be in charge of herself or her business particularly well and, aside from her Soulmate, she is rather hopeless at taking advice or working with people. Because to give someone control over a part of you is just risking being hurt by them...

GOALS::
FEARS::
[/ul]
[/blockquote][/sub]
STORY::[/i] Soulmates, plus their pokemon teams. They were the only stable elements in a very ephemeral lifestyle and perhaps that was the starting point for Rin being rather more interested in pokemon than people - it wasn't as if she'd ever been able to make human friends growing up, so her bias was somewhat understandable. As was the assumption that she would inevitably fall into some sort of pokemon-related profession.
And so her life went, town to city to the wilds inbetween. Always on the move, never settling down, always chasing that horizon. Or at least her parents were; Rin just calmly went along with it. As she was older, she turned out to have rather a knack for the day to day care of her parents' teams. Just little things at first, such as being quick to learn which ones liked to be stroked and in which way, which ones tended to be finicky about their foods and then what would coax them to eat and soon her parents - who were excellent trainers in their own right, but willing to admit to gaps in their skill sets - were willing to let her have more responsibility. All of the pokemon they travelled with soon received a personal nutritional plan, based on trial and error, yes, but also innate skill (yes, Rin was a strange, strange child where her interests were concerned) and when an egg resulted from a cross between two of her parents' pokemon, Rin was the one to whom its care was allocated. Maybe her parents had entertained thoughts of her becoming a trainer, like them - after all, she didn't seem precisely opposed to battling for all that she lacked their distinctly competitive personalities, and her Soulmate could indeed be quite formidable when either of them thought it necessary to be anything other than calm or aloof - but that was not to be. Rin had always been very determined in her own quiet way and she had plans for her life which were not to be influenced by anyone. She was going to be a Pokemon Breeder, she told them. And they knew better than to argue with their serious-eyed daughter with the surprisingly gentle touch.
Those, of course, were the good times. And, like all things, they had to come to pass at some point.
It was not a tragic accident or act of great evil that took Rin's father from her. It was just human mortality, pure and simple, a sickness that snuck up on him and leeched the life slowly from him. Rin and her mother were there to hold his hands as he quietly slipped away, he and his Soulmate leaving to start their next adventure. Rin missed her passionate, fun-loving father with a rare sort of intensity for her, but the luxury of grief was not something she could afford, not when she had her mother to care for. The life of her soulmate had left her torpid and broken, to the point where even her Soulmate could not reach her, and the extent to which the consequences of loving someone that much terrified her was something that would stay with Rin for the rest of her life. Her mother's world had ended when her husband had left it and that scared her, made her shy away from the prospect of letting anyone matter to her that much if losing them would cause this much hurt.
Rin adapted as best she could to their changed family make-up. Since her listless mother showed no interest or inclination in making decisions, the practical Rin shouldered that task. She settled the two of them in Virenya City and nagged and bullied and forced her mother into finding work. She too set about trying to earn them some income, in spite of her relatively young age. Her business started with selling her ability to come up with good diet plans for individual pokemon, each one tailor-made and personalised. Then she expanded into offering breeding advice to those looking to get the best possible Egg, even going so far as to set up a sort of 'match-making' system for trainers looking for a specific pokemon to breed theirs with.
And so it was that, eventually, 'Rin's Retreat' was born. It was a small business, with services offered that ranged from advice to diet plans, even to pokemon vacations. Because it had been noted that a pokemon that was a little under the weather, a little tired, a little battle weary just did better when given a few days of Rin's gentle, attentive care. She had an uncanny knack for just improving the general wellbeing of pokemon in a multitude of little ways and she would then return them to their owners, refreshed and repaired. Not to mention looking good since she was a dab hand at grooming. And in her own free time she sought to improve her Breeding capabilities, learning the tricks of the trade that was making pokemon as happy and healthy as possible, and getting better at knowing which crosses would result in a truly stupendous pokemon when its egg hatched.
This was her skill. She was never going to be a fabulous trainer or a gym leader or anyone dynamically important. But this, breeding, that she was good at. Her business was her life, really, since she never seemed to let people get too close to her, not wanting to make herself vulnerable to the heartbreak her mother had suffered. Time had taken the edge off of her grief, but it was clear that she was not the woman that she had once been.
Maybe that was why, when Rin's Retreat was well-established, its owner announced a sabbatical. She was going to travel, she announced with her typical forthright certainty. Not for the joy of it, or the excitement, but with a definite purpose in mind - to travel from place to place in Aniferna and learn everything she could about Breeding along the way. Local remedies, regional tips, variations in pokemon physiology from place to place, the effects that climate had on them - she wanted to learn it all. And if she learned enough, became successful enough...well, who knew. Maybe ever city in Anferna would have its own Rin's Retreat one day.
