[/b] There's no doubt that Gabe is ruled by his heart, rather than his head. His every emotion is written on his face, in every move he makes and he clearly never feels anything in moderation.
GABRIEL hikaru GRIMM
"PICK A STAR ON THE DARK HORIZON
AND FOLLOW THE LIGHT"NAME:: Gabriel Hikaru Grimm.
AGE:: Twenty.
GENDER:: Male.
CLASS:: Trainer.
BIRTH SEASON:: Spring.
ORIENTATION:: Heterosexual.POSITIVE TRAITS::
-- Determined: Gabe likes to have goals to chase after and, while he remembers to be at least, he was ivery determined. He dreams, our boy does, and he dreams big. Picking reasonable, sensible, realistic goals is not his forte though.
-- Generous: To a fault, even. Whatever else can be said about him, he is caring and willing to share anything with anyone who looks as if they need it - hell, he'll give you the shirt off his back. Mainly because he thinks he looks awesome shirtless, but whatever.
-- Dynamic: Gabe is more often in motion than not and is happiest when allowed to run around, metaphorically and physically. He is a doer not a thinker and expresses himself very physically.
-- Competitive: Boy, this is the world's biggest understatement. Gabe loves to compete - physically, mentally, give him any sort of activity and he can make a competition out of it. He's constantly begging, cajoling or nagging people into 'friendly' little contests and is fond of making up very ridiculous competitions. He loves to win, obviously, but competing in itself is one of his favourite things to do.
-- Energetic: Aside from when he's passed out and snoring, Gabe never seems to run out of energy. He is extremely active, loves sport and is very physically quick on his feet for someone as lanky as him. Sitting still bores him and he is happiest in motion. His tireless nature can be rather exhausting for everyone else though.
-- Flirtatious: Gabe loves pretty girls, simple as that. He's probably less smooth than he thinks he is, but his social, outgoing nature means that flattery comes quite easily to him and he flirts like he breathes - namely without thinking about it.
-- Gregarious: He hates being alone. A lot. He is naturally drawn to people and his family used to joke that it was lucky he was born a twin so that he even had company in the womb. A herd person, Gabe really likes company and prefers to travel with people rather than his own. Luckily for him, he has his Soulmate with him at all times, but the more people around the better as far as he's concerned.
-- Target-driven: Gabe lives his life chasing after things. He's not happy without some sort of target or a goal to race towards. Granted, his hasty nature might mean he trips over himself more than he would if he was more sedate, but he does usually get things done thanks to being quite so determined in life.

NEGATIVE TRAITS::
-- Hot-tempered: Being a passionate person has its drawbacks and Gabe is quick to lose his temper when provoked. Luckily, he tends to cool off just as fast and is too forgetful to remember to keep a grudge for long.
-- Unfaithful: ...he doesn't mean to be. But he is. And this goes hand in hand with his erratic nature. When in love, Gabe is hopelessly devoted to the girl in question. The problem is that his attention soon flickers and wanes and then he's out of love and moving on to whatever fascinates him next. His tendency to love them, then leave them is one of his worst habits.
-- Scatter-brained: Gabe's mind goes a mile a minute and, as such, it rarely holds onto one thing for long. He is rather forgetful and his thoughts tend to trip over themselves a lot.
-- Never shuts up: Ever, ever. He even talks in his sleep. Gabe's mouth tends to reflect whatever's going through his head right now and the output is rarely filtered either.
-- Impulsive: Gabe rarely, rarely thinks before he acts and lets his heart and gut get him into trouble. He's a risk-taker because he's hasty to throw himself into things, leaving it up to his belief that he'll 'get lucky' to make everything work. Unsurprisingly, that isn't working out too well for him.
-- Impatient: If patience is a virtue, then Gabe must be one hell of a sinner. He hates sitting steal and deals with waiting for anything about as well as the average toddler. He has no concept of delayed gratification whatsoever and would much rather everything occurred fast.
-- Proud: Gabe can be quite touchy, which leads to his hot-tempered nature, and that competitiveness means that his pride gets tangled up a lot with whether he wins or loses.
-- Vain: Unsurprisingly, he thinks he's the hottest thing since sliced bread first got turned into toast. Though impatient, he does generally find enough time to preen a little whenever he can and he likes to look good. He also probably thinks he's hotter than he actually is.
-- Loud. Very.

GOALS::
FEARS::

STORY::[/i] still. Even in his sleep, he was constantly rolling out of bed and his poor, poor twin brother had to deal with his sleep-talking, his rolling over a lot, the cover-stealing, the kicking... From a very early age it was clear which of them was the energetic, scatter-brained one and the rest of his family had to put up with that.
Translation: as soon as he could be trusted on his own (which was actually never, but their patience could only be spread so thin) he was booted outdoors to play with his Soulmate as a way of keeping him out of his family's hair. When this worked, that meant that he chased butterflies (or birds, or leaves on the wind, or anything that moved really) or ran races with his Soulmate. Spoiler alert: his soulmate usually won and didn't she just love that.
It seemed that his parents couldn't come up with enough distractions to keep him occupied for any long period of time. Dumping him in as many sports teams as possible barely seemed to tap his apparently inexhaustible sources of energy and just served to make him eat twice as much as he normally did. Which, given that he was already expensive enough to feed, was nigh on bankrupting. The problem was, they told each other in sheer exhaustion (and exasperation depending on how much of a pain in the ass he'd been on that particular day) was that he got bored of things so fast. Or was distracted by the next 'OH MY GOD, THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER' subject of interest. Or just anything sparkly. He flitted from hobby to hobby with such rapidity that is was too tiring to try and keep up.
The only thing that stayed constant, really, was the lure to which his parents resorted to in their most desperate moments, which involved telling him that if he was really, really good, he would be allowed to go to Trainer's School as soon as he was old enough. And that tended to work like a charm, for about five minutes at least. But where Gabe was concerned, five minutes in which he didn't challenge you to one of his bizarre contests ('Bet you I can stand on my head for longer than you while reciting the alphabet backwards!') was practically an eternity of bliss. Of course, this only worked because they lived in Utoron City, practically next to the Trainer's School in fact, but it worked all the same.
As soon as Gabe and his twin were considered old enough to start collecting pokemon other than their Soulmate's, off to Trainer's School they went (Gabe running off ahead, of course.) It was all that Gabe had ever hoped for...except that, predictably, his twin did better than him, being rather more focussed and suited to sitting down and learning things in a sensible fashion, Gabe's approach being rather more 'learning is boring, LET'S GET TO THE DOING AND I'LL JUST PICK IT UP AS I GO ALONG, HOW HARD CAN IT BE?' Naturally, for someone as competitive as Gabe, this was impossible to bear. Granted, he could still salvage some of his pride by challenging his twin to physical races, both him and his Soulmate being faster than his twin and his twin's Soulmate, but that started to feel rather inadequate when his brother was beating him in tests, in practical classes, in battle...
This may or may not have prompted Gabe's dramatic declaration and equally dramatic departure. He was, he announced with a flourish and a fist shaken in his brother's bemused direction, going to leave and go training like a Cool Trainer. And he was going to catch a hundred pokemon. And beat all the Gyms in Aniferna. And the Elite Four. And the Champion. And then, when Gabe was Champion himself, his twin was going to be sorry.
(His twin pointing out that he thought Gabe would make a very good Champion and, really, he didn't want to compete with him wasn't at all helpful.)
So, at the age of thirteen, Gabe left home, Soulmate by his side. And that was the start of what he liked to call Gabe's Grand Adventure to Championhood. (...granted, the latter part still hasn't quite being realised yet, but he's working on it.) It was a less smooth path than he daydreamed about, but his competitive nature and love of speed actually helped him here - giving Gabe a goal to chase or a place on the horizon to reach was a way to ensure that he was happy, since he was always the most content when running after what he wanted. Sure, there was a learning curve on the path to becoming the Most Awesome Trainer, but Gabe claimed that those losses were ALL flukes. His battling approach had always been more brute force than anything else - hitting them hard and fast with his pokemon's most powerful attacks, which completely made sense to him, but spoke rather eloquently on how he didn't have the patience for working out strategies. And he did win a fair few battles, learning at least a little along the way, making a good start on his Gym challenge.
Of course, being Gabe, there were some distractions along the way. Hitting puberty, growing to about six foot and suddenly discovering the wonderful world of pretty girls was a fairly successful diversion and still is to be honest - Gabe fell in love with every pretty face he saw. Problem was that he was as distractible in romance as he was with, well, everything else, and he tended to leave broken hearts in his wake by making promises in the heat of things that he then couldn't or simply forgot to keep. That was not one of his better acquired character traits. Then, of course, there were the other distractions - like the time he decided that he absolutely, one hundred percent wanted to be a Pokemon Breeder instead. And his unsuccessful, but loud foray into the world of Pokemon Contests. And also that time when he was absolutely sure that owning a Miltank Ranch was his calling in life...
Seven years later, Gabe still loves to chase his dreams and is always happiest when he has someone to compete with. Over the years, he's actually been the most successful when given a rival's heels to chase because nothing provokes him more than the sight of someone's (metaphorical) back. Of course, he's gotten himself into trouble along the way, challenging too many people to random, irritating battles or contests, but his generous, passionate nature has also won him some friends along the way. And with Team Unifi darkening the world now...well, Gabe's latest challenge, apparently, is protecting as many pokemon as he can from their evil ways.
So far, that goal has lasted for about three years. Which means, given how erratic he is, Gabe must really care this time.
