The judges had been deliberating over the results of the contest for the past half-hour. The stage lights had become almost unbearable to stand under, especially in her heavy silk robes, but luckily, Nikolai had noticed and had used the fan on the end of his tail to gently stir a breeze up around his human in an attempt to cool her off. It worked nicely, and, as she stood up there with the other five competitors, she looked just as cool as she was beginning to feel. She watched several of the other competitors all but fail in front of the judges, while she managed to pull off another of her less-than-conventional routines off with little effort. "And the results are in!" the announcer, complete with his Chatot perched on his shoulder, shouted into the microphone. His voice reverberated about the large room. The crowd became deathly silent, eager to hear the results. "In third place, we have Marcus and Cirrus, his Altaria!" Applause broke out as the young man took the large, fluffy bird into his arms, hearing the Altaria release a trilling cry of excitement. The announcer allowed the applause to go for a few seconds before holding up his hand. As soon as the clapping and cheering died down enough, he continued. "In second place, we have Kathy and her Mothim, Autumn!" Again, the applause picked up. The older lady took the Mothim gently by his larger upper wings and twirled around happily with him. Again, the announcer held up his hand, signaling the crowd to fall silent. "Finally, in first place..." He paused, turning around, looking at the remaining four competitors, noting each of their reactions. After what must have been a minute of silence, he slowly brought the microphone up to his mouth and said, "Katia and her Milotic, Nikolai!"Cheers and applause echoed through the hall as Nikolai lowered his head to Katia's. The girl placed a kiss right on the Milotic's nose, before throwing her arms around the large serpent's head. /I expected nothing less from us,/ the Milotic thought, pulling his head gently from Katia's arms before turning his gaze to the announcer, who was walking toward them, a sumptuous blue silk ribbon in his hands. "Congratulations, miss Romanov!" he said as he placed the ribbon in Katia's hands. With that, he stepped aside, allowing a photographer from Anor's newspaper to snap a picture of the girl and her Soulmate, proudly displaying the ribbon. With that, the crowd was being allowed to come into the contest area to speak with the competitors. Reaching under her robe, Katia released the Pokeball she kept stored under there for this very moment. Immediately, her small Riolu appeared, standing in front of the girl like a small bodyguard, just in case someone wanted to try something stupid. The little Riolu had been fiercely protective of the girl ever since she happened to find him on the banks of Ithycis Lake and nursed him back to health. Seeing how the little Riolu turned around to look at her with his large red eyes, Katia knelt down, kissing the top of the Riolu's head. "I just need you to keep an eye out for me, Dmitri. Okay?" When the little one nodded, turning around and striking what she assumed to be a battle pose, she smiled. /Now let's see how many people come and congratulate us~/ she thought, gently stroking Nikolai's head.[/style] [STYLE=color: #6f6363; border-left: 5px solid #cecaca; width: 380px; text-align: justify; padding-left: 5px; font-size: 11px; margin-top: 0px; font-family: arial; line-height: 1]WORDS: five eighty six TAGS: genji~ NOTES: let the creeping begin~ CREDITS: made by gimmick/echo of BTN[/style] |

She won. Genji was quite impressed with her display, however he didn't think that she would win. The decision must have been hard to make, but of course Genji wasn't a judge. He was a random spectator, a man that found that this sort of thing was nothing less than a mere factor in entertainment. Genji had more than just wanting to be entertained for being here. He was looking for a new victim, someone to devote some time watching and learning from. He thought that a contest would be good for this. I mean, what was not to like about some people that completely devoted their life to making their Pokemon do tricks. Nonetheless, the ones that used their soulmates in these endeavors. Genji was interested in the practical application of the soul mate's bond with the second half of their "soul" in things like this. Of course, Genji subjected his shifted self to flying long distances, and from time to time taking hits. Others were more creative. They tamed their soul mates and taught them great things. Perhaps Genji felt that he was missing out on that sort of thing.
Then again, he really didn't.
Hell, that didn't matter right now. She won. He didn't know how to react to see that his victim had been chosen for him, by a panel of judges that had no clue that they were picking more than just a winner. They were choosing someone whose fate would be scarred by the man that now stood, clapping his hands unenthusastically as the winner was announced. Genji began moving towards the contest area, with a haste. A haste that he tried to hide as he looked emotionless. He did not want to seem too objective in his movements through the oncoming crowd. He was simply a contestant enthusiast, they had no reason to see him as anything more than that. His eyes glanced around the area as he pursued the winner of the contestant that oh-so innocently stood in the same place that she had been when she won. Genji realized the Riolu, however assumed it was just there to celebrate with her, even if it did look very protective.
Seeing as how Genji had no soul mate, he was immediately a suspicious individual. However, despite the rarity, some didn't care for shifters. Some were fearful of his kind, but he hoped that Katia would not feel any fear towards a man without a soul mate. Some mistook him for Unifi, which he thought was quite funny, in a dark way. The same people that would kill him he was confused for. It was fun, he guessed. As he neared Katia, he cleared he throat as he took a step forward and looked at her. He had to assess what he knew about the female, and what the soul mate at her side further suggested.
She was quite pretty, Genji would admit that despite their age differntial. But, that wasn't his main objective (although, intimacy with Katia was not off his mind.) He also knew that she was quite... a rich little girl, and had all the traits to go with that. If he didn't already know that, it would be even more obvious with the Milotic at her side. Genji took a step towards her, breaking from the quickly moving crowd as he was now directly in front of Riolu. He cleared his throat swiftly.
"Dear, I'm quite impressed by your performance. I expected nothing less of you." Genji spoke. He bowed quickly to the woman, before raising his head and looking to the woman's face. Hopefully, Katia wouldn't mind "dear". 50% of women Genji approached thought it was "cute" or whatever the hell they wanted to call it. Genji thought that it was the most proper way to address any female.
"Your presence means a lot to me, Miss Romanov." His eyes reflected the above light with a small glint in his eye. Now, he easily was she to be manipulated for information? Maybe the ruse that Genji was indeed completely honored by her in every regard would actually work. "I'm Genji Riakai."

Katia, of course, was as gracious as she could pretend to be, congratulating each of the other coordinators on their excellent performances and, in turn, congratulating each of their Pokemon. Nikolai seemed to do likewise, administering a mental word of congratulation to those Soulmates who had performed, and a gentle bow of the head to those Pokemon who were not Soulmates. Other reporters seemed to be skirting around her, snapping pictures, no doubt getting something for the next day's paper. She would have to see if they wanted a statement later, something she was more than happy to give, especially since it got her name out there for people to see. However, once the general public began to spill onto the stage, Katia prepared herself to receive handshakes, kisses on the hand, and maybe a hug or two from overenthusiastic children. At the forefront, however, was a young man who appeared not to have a Soulmate. Katia's first reaction to this was alarm. She immediately looked up to Nikolai. /Unifi?/ she asked, shooting a glance to the man who was rapidly approaching, yet kept an unusual deadpan look on his face. The Milotic gazed at the man, blinking his large brown eyes, before saying, /No, a shifter. But...he does seem a little off./But Katia paid no mind to that. He was now close enough that Katia really couldn't step away without looking like she was intentionally walking away. Dmitri seemed to sense the girl's distress, however, and was ready to attack at the command, glaring hard at the man with his bright red eyes. But when the man only bowed and proceeded to compliment her (starting with the word 'dear,' which Katia found a little flattering), she couldn't help but relax a little. He seemed harmless enough. With a demure smile on her lips, she replied, "Why thank you, sir. You are very kind." However, his next sentence, that her presence meant a lot to him, confused her. She attempted to puzzle it through in her head, but before she could hazard a proper guess, the man introduced himself. "It is a pleasure, Mister Riakai," she replied gently, holding out her hand, either for him to shake or kiss (as she could never tell which one men wished to do until they took it). "It is safe to assume that this is not your first contest?"That was the only explanation she had for his statement on her presence meaning a lot to him. Perhaps he was a fan that she had overlooked? She usually remembered the looks of the fans that visited her after every contest. But this face was new to her. He obviously wasn't a return fan, but perhaps he had seen her once before or something? Maybe he read about her in the paper? /Do you recognize him, Nikolai?/ she asked the Milotic beside her, keeping her gaze on the man before her. She didn't wish to embarrass herself by actually forgetting one of her devoted fans. /No. I'm certain this one is new. I haven't seen him before...at least, I don't think I have,/ the Milotic turned his gaze from Katia to Genji now, trying to figure out why this man was unsettling him so much. Was it the Soulmate within him? He could sense it was a Pokemon that craved control, but it held a certain degree of darkness within him that scared him much more than usual. But Katia didn't seem the least bit scared. If anything, she seemed overjoyed to be receiving such attention. So perhaps he was just overreacting. Or, at least, he hoped he was just overreacting.[/style] [STYLE=color: #6f6363; border-left: 5px solid #cecaca; width: 380px; text-align: justify; padding-left: 5px; font-size: 11px; margin-top: 0px; font-family: arial; line-height: 1]WORDS: six thirty TAGS: genji~ NOTES: damn. genji, you are terrifying. *~* CREDITS: made by gimmick/echo of BTN[/style] |

She had no chance of walking away, for it would look far too deliberate. As Genji kept his eyes are on her face, it appeared that she had very little reason to retreat. Genji was glad for this, and did not detect the tension between the three as this awkward confrontation began. Genji had done as he thought would apply best to Katia, and everything he spoke seemed to have been met with a somewhat positive response, if not very positive. The possibility that Genji might be a Unifi agent would at least be nullified in the mind of the Milotic, whom could see quite plainly that Genji's soul was not split in two, but 1 that had not been halved yet. Soulmates could decipher which Pokemon were shifters and which were but plain humans with a missing second half.
A thought that always crossed Genji's mind was that he could always use his Tepig and walk around with it, and to Unifi agents it would appear that it was his soul mate. However, the only shame in this was that he would then have to remember who knew he was a shifter and who thought Tepig was his soul mate. He had to keep things like this simple as to not place too much stress on his mind. Genji saw her hold out her hand, and only looked at it for a second. Typically, it was Genji that held out his hand to women, in which most of them shook it lightly. Genji was unsure whether or not to kiss the top of the hand or to shake it, however the first option seemed to make more sense within his mind, seeing as how he figured that women like this would be used to that sort of treatment. Genji really wasn't sure what to make of the contest statement, for it was indeed the first one had visited in a while, but the first. However, he could also pose as a frequent fan of hers. Genji couldn't imagine her remembering each and every one of her fans.
At the same time, any further acts of Genji would seem uncharacteristic if he said that he was a fan that had just not worked up to nerve to approach her. He planned to be very social and approach her whenever it proved to be a good time to do so. A very awkward fan would not fit this description, and surely Katia would eventually figure that out. Genji took the bottom of Katia's hand in his and kissed the top of her hand, before taking a step back and looking back into her eyes. He realized that it was quite awkward when he missed statements simply because he wasn't looking at the person he was conversing with's face. However, seeing as how her statements seemed to come to a halt and her gaze wasn't leaving Genji, he spoke, "I haven't attended a contest like this in a while, I was unsure if I was going to enjoy it like I did back in the day."
Genji didn't exactly frequent contests back in the day, but every once in a while he would visit them. "You put on quite a show, and I wasn't the only one who was enticed by your performance. The judges and your fans love you, however that doesn't surprise me." This is the sort of thing that Genji really loved. As he saw it, this women would probably take everything in as he spoke it and see nothing wrong with Genji as a person. "From what I read, you are becoming quite the celebrity, dear. I wouldn't be surprised if people like me were coming up to you everyday, begging for your attention." Genji spoke once more, the light smirk on his face lingered a second.
